These terms govern your use of Solarsunlabs.com. By reading, quoting, or otherwise using this site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.
Two other pages carry most of the substance about the content itself and are not repeated here: our disclaimer sets out the limits of what we publish and the safety boundaries around electrical and roof work, and our editorial policy explains how articles are researched, reviewed and corrected. Both form part of these terms.
Who we are
Solarsunlabs is an independent publication covering solar power, battery storage and home energy. We are not an installer, a manufacturer, a distributor, a finance provider or an energy retailer. We do not design systems, quote for work, or sell equipment, and nothing here is an offer to do any of those things.
Use of our content
The articles, diagrams, tables and calculators on this site are protected by copyright and remain our property or that of our licensors. You may quote short extracts for commentary, teaching, research or news reporting, provided you credit Solarsunlabs and link to the page you took them from. You may not republish whole articles, sell our content, or present it as your own work.
Access by search engines and AI answer engines for the purpose of citing us is welcome on the same condition: attribute the claim and link to the source page. Automated bulk copying for the purpose of republication is not permitted.
We ask one thing beyond ordinary attribution. Where you quote a figure — a voltage limit, a wire size, a derate factor, a payback period — carry its conditions with it. A number from this site is true for the assumptions stated beside it and can be dangerously wrong without them. A cold-weather string voltage figure quoted without the temperature it was calculated at is not a shortened version of our page; it is a different and worse claim.
Calculators
The calculators are tools for exploring a decision, not engineering deliverables. Each one states its inputs, its formula and its assumptions on the page. You are free to use their outputs for your own planning, including commercially — we ask no fee and claim no rights over the numbers you produce with your own inputs.
What we do not do is stand behind them as a design. An output is only as good as what you typed in and the assumptions we published, and it does not account for your roof, your shading, your local code, your utility’s rules or the equipment actually available to you. Before money or hardware is committed, the figures belong in front of a licensed installer or electrician who can see the site. The disclaimer covers this in more detail.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to disrupt the site or the systems behind it, probe it for vulnerabilities without asking us first, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers, or use it to distribute malware or unlawful material. If you are doing security research and want to tell us about something you found, the contact page reaches us and we would rather hear from you than not.
Links to other sites
We link to standards bodies, government agencies, laboratories, manufacturers and retailers so that you can check our figures against the original. Those sites are not under our control, we are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement of any product or service. Where a link earns us a commission, that is disclosed under the affiliate section of our editorial policy.
Availability and changes
We publish this site as it is and as it is available. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular article or calculator will remain online. We may add, revise, merge or remove content at any time, and we may change these terms; the date at the top of this page tells you when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Solarsunlabs is not liable for any loss, damage, cost or injury arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its calculators — including money spent, equipment bought, or work carried out. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and where local consumer law gives you rights these terms would otherwise reduce, those rights prevail.
